The website for Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has major security flaws that allow anyone to edit its database, according to two sources who discovered the vulnerability.
One coder told 404 Media that they infiltrated the site and added at least two database entries, including prank messages that read: “This is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro.”

At the time of writing, the latter message remained visible on Musk’s DOGE website.
One of 404 Media’s sources criticized the site’s sloppy construction, stating that it “feels like it was completely slapped together” with “tons of errors and details leaked in the page source code.”
DOGE rolled out its website just under a month ago with a holding page featuring the agency’s logo. On Wednesday, it added a feed of X posts tracking government spending cuts.
Both sources said the site is likely not running on government servers, suggesting it may not meet the standards required of official U.S. government websites.
Musk has not commented on the website’s apparent security flaws. The Daily Beast has contacted the White House for comment.
