The Associated Press stands by its reporting that the NFL had the infamous Ray Rice elevator video before it suspended him for two games for knocking out his fiancée. In September, the AP reported a law enforcement official gave the tape to the NFL and played a voicemail from an unnamed NFL official saying, "You're right. It's terrible." On Thursday, the NFL released its internal investigation into the Rice proceedings. Ex-FBI Director Robert Mueller led the investigation and concluded the NFL did not have the video in advance of its decision. "We have reviewed the report and stand by our original reporting," said Kathleen Carroll, the AP's executive editor. Mueller did admonish the league and say it was too deferential to Rice. "The NFL should have done more with the information it had...."
