Singer Ariana Grande on Friday dropped her highly anticipated “thank u, next” music video, which drew inspiration from “girl power” rom-coms like Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, Bring It On, and 13 Going on 30. In the video, Grande transforms into several different female protagonists—donning hot pink to channel the iconic characters of Regina George and Elle Woods, chopping her hair to turn into Jenna Rink, and waving pom-poms around to play Torrance Shipman. Celebrity cameos include Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, singer Troye Sivan, and actress Elizabeth Gillies. Jennifer Coolidge and Jonathan Bennett both reprised their film roles in the music video, with Coolidge playing Legally Blonde’s Paulette and Bennett playing Mean Girls’ Aaron Samuels. The song was an instant hit upon release and is currently topping the Billboard Hot 100 for a third week.
