A tattoo artist in Arizona has come under fire after inking a 9-year-old girl with the American flag. In an Instagram post published Thursday, the artist, who goes by Sosa, disclosed that the child had come into his parlor a year ago when she was 9 asking for a tattoo of Donald Trump on her neck. He wrote in his post that he “convinced her to do a more patriotic tattoo” and suggested she sit on the Trump idea for a year to see if she still wanted to get it. A year later, the now-10-year-old returned for a touchup of her flag tattoo with Sosa adding that she “changed her mind” on the Trump portrait. In an interview with the New York Post, the artist said he’s been “getting threats” and “hate comments” since publishing the video. He added that the family came to the United States as refugees from Turkey and seemed to have wanted to honor their new home. In Arizona, the law allows a child to receive a tattoo so long as they have their parent’s permission.
