On Can’t Forget: A Souvenir of the Grand Tour, out May 12, the aging yet still vital musician belying his near-century in age and sounding as vital as ever. Culled from live performances and sound checks on his Old Ideas World Tour between 2008 and 2013, when he played 470 shows to more than four million fans in 31 countries, the tracks bear intimacy and run the gamut of his long career. Maybe the best of the newer bunch is a tribute to country legend George Jones’ “Choices.”
