Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon have had their share of marital strife, but they’ve always managed to patch it up.
On one celebrated occasion in 1989, Ozzy was so contrite about the bad behavior that had led to marital discord (he had tried to strangle Sharon in an alcoholic blackout and was arrested for attempted murder) that he cut off all his hair and sent it to Sharon, special delivery from jail, by way of apology.
On that occasion the romantic gesture of extreme penitence worked, and Sharon took him back. And it’s probably fair to say that the latest split between the world’s most baffling celeb couple could be poetically enough resolved in a similar symbolic manner—as Ozzy has reportedly run off with his hairdresser.
Ozzy and Sharon have been married for 33 years and have three kids: Aimee, 33, Kelly, 31, and Jack, 30. Their marriage is commonly regarded as one of the wonders of the showbiz world, trucking on like a Black Sabbath fan club at an open bar, despite frequent explosive eruptions.
The couple’s last serious split occurred in 2013 when Ozzy relapsed.
“Everybody knows he’s been struggling with this his entire life and I never knew that he was using prescription drugs. I knew he was drinking occasionally, but I didn’t realize to the extent,” Sharon Osbourne told The Talk in April 2013.
“It’s a disease that not only hurts the person that has the disease, but it hurts the family. It hurts people that love you and we’re dealing with it,” she added. “We’ve dealt with worse and we will deal with it and this too shall pass. Otherwise my husband will be taken to the hospital to get my foot removed from his ass.”
They got back together in 2014 and Ozzy subsequently apologized on Facebook for his “insane behavior” while drinking and taking drugs over the preceding year.
This time, however, reports say that drugs and alcohol are not involved but that the aging rocker’s head has been turned by the attentions of Michelle Pugh, a celebrity hairdresser who claims on her website to be “inspired by rock ‘n’ roll.”
The U.K. Sun on Sunday broke the story over the weekend, and the Osbournes’ publicist has confirmed that Ozzy is not currently at the couple’s $10 million home in Beverly Hills.
The Sun said the “sheepish” star is hiding out at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The Sun’s source said: “Sharon went ballistic with Ozzy and accused him of having the affair.”
It has been reported that bouquets of flowers and letters have been arriving at the home for Sharon—but thus far no hair.
