The ashes of victims from the 1978 Jonestown Massacre were found inside nine unclaimed containers at a funeral home in Dover, Delaware last week, according to officials. The containers were discovered among 38 others inside the former Minus Funeral by state investigators, 33 of which were marked and dated from a period of time from approximately 1970 through the 1990s. Forensic investigators are working to identify the victims and notify their families. Nine hundred eighteen people died in the mass suicide-murder in Jonestown, Guyana led by People’s Temple sect leader Jim Jones. (The largest mass death of Americans in a single day until 9/11.) The bodies of 911 of them were flown to Dover Air Force Base, where the U.S. military's largest mortuary is located.
