At Least 40 Dead After Ferry Sinks in Iraq

At least 4o people were killed Thursday when a ferry sank on the Tigris River in Iraq, Reuters reports. The ferry, which sank near Mosul, was reportedly overloaded. The head of Mosul’s Civil Defense Authority said that many of the victims were women and children who didn’t know how to swim. Rescue teams continue to search the area for survivors, and have rescued 12 people thus far.
