A brutal winter storm that tore through much of the East Coast on Friday has led to at least seven deaths as high winds brought trees down on cars and homes. Two children were among the victims, with an 11-year-old boy killed in Putnam Valley, New York when a tree fell on his home, and a 6-year-old crushed by a falling tree while he was sleeping in his bed in Chester, Virginia. Similar incidents were reported in Rhode Island and Maryland, with a 72-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman killed by falling trees in separate incidents. A 44-year-old man was also killed in James City County, Virginia when a tree fell on his car, authorities said. A 25-year-old Connecticut man and a 57-year-old man in Pennsylvania were reported dead in similar incidents. The storm, which caused massive flooding along much of the coast, also left more than two million people without power.
