Michael Avenatti’s domestic-violence case was referred to Los Angeles prosecutors on Wednesday for consideration as a misdemeanor offense. Avenatti was arrested by LAPD on Nov. 14 under the suspicion of domestic violence after his ex-girlfriend claimed he hit her, which he maintains is false. Mareli Miniutti was granted a temporary restraining order earlier this week after she claimed Avenatti was physically violent towards her and called her an “ungrateful bitch.” The district attorney's office declined to file felony charges against him, opting instead to send the case to the city attorney’s office as a misdemeanor. Avenatti wrote that he was “thankful” for the D.A.’s decision.
