Former first lady Barbara Bush is in “failing health” and has opted not to seek medical treatment, a statement from the office of former President George H. W. Bush said Sunday. Bush, 92, will “focus on comfort care” following a spate of recent hospitalizations. “It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself—thanks to her abiding faith—but for others,” the statement read. Bush, who has reportedly been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure, has decided not to go back into a hospital and will instead remain at her home in Houston, according to CNN.
