Baylor University has reportedly fired its football coach, Art Briles, in the wake of sexual-assault scandals plaguing the team. The school is expected to release on Thursday the findings of an independent and comprehensive report into the school's response to sexual assaults on campus. On Tuesday, rumors surfaced that university president and chancellor Kenneth Starr had been ousted, but as of Wednesday afternoon, he was still holding his title. The Philadelphia-based lawfirm Pepper Hamilton conducted the review after they were hired by Baylor, the school announced in September. It was turned over to the university earlier this month and reviewed by Baylor's board of regents. School spokeswoman Lori Fogleman told The Daily Beast earlier this week that the school would make an announcement on the findings before June 3. Briles' firing came as a surprise to many, after his tenure transformed the school's football program. The team's 2013 title was the Bears' first outright conference championship since 1980, ESPN reports. Players were reportedly informed of the move via a text message from Briles.
