“Today is a good day for Putin and the oligarchs in Russia,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) wrote Monday afternoon, hours after President Trump contradicted his own intelligence officials and sided with the Russian president when asked whether he believes the Kremlin interfered in the 2016 U.S. election. “It is a bad day for people in the United States and all over the world who believe in democracy and who are trying to understand what world our idiot president lives in,” Sanders added, uncharacteristically deploying a personal insult against the president.
