Bernie Sanders Says Amazon Must ‘Improve Working Conditions’ After Beast Report

Vermont Senator and 2020 Democratic contender Bernie Sanders said Monday that Amazon must “significantly improve working conditions” after a Daily Beast report shed light on suicidal employees at the tech giant. “Amazon must recognize that workers’ rights don’t stop at the minimum wage,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. “Amazon must significantly improve working conditions at its warehouses and respect the constitutional right of its employees to form a union and bargain collectively for a better life.” The Daily Beast report uncovered a trove of calls from Amazon warehouses to 911 dispatchers about workers who were suicidal while on the job, including one employee who attempted to cut himself with “safety box cutters.”
