My favorite shorts to wear are exercise shorts. They’re comfortable, lightweight, sweat wicking for when it’s hot outside, and I can go right from working at home to exercising in no time. Because this year is the year of exercise shorts, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites to help you find a pair you love, too.

Patagonia Baggies are my favorite shorts for well, everything. They are made out of a lightweight material, and are coated with a DWR finish to help shed moisture. They are great for running in, swimming in, hiking in, you name it.Best Feature: They are comfortable, versatile, and perfect for anything life throws at you.
Outdoor Voices’ Rektrek Shorts are some of my favorites. They are designed for hitting the trail, being wind and water resistant, “But most of all, they’re comfortable and cool. The waistband is elastic and non restricting, and the shorts are unlined, which I prefer for minimal restriction.”Best Feature: The liner here is excellent, making these a must for anyone who is in the pro-liner camp when it comes to shorts.
The Session Shorts are what shorts should feel like. “After wearing the Session Shorts for a few workouts, I became acutely aware of the flaws all of my other shorts possessed. I began to realize that my older pairs of shorts would leave red marks on my skin, or give me an uncomfortable amount of wedgies (sorry, it’s true)."Best Feature: The Session Shorts have fit like a dream from the first time I wore them to the last, and the fabric is soft, durable, sweat wicking, breathable, anti-chafe and odor-free.
Alo Yoga makes one of my favorite pairs of sweatpants, and so it should come as no surprise that their shorts are great too. They have zippers on the pockets making them great for running, a sweat wicking fabric, and a flexible fit for whatever you’re up to.Best Feature: The range of motion here is excellent - you never feel like these are going to rip, and you don't feel restricted either.
This lightweight short from Lululemon is an excellent option. They are designed for yoga, which means they offer excellent flexibility and range of motion, so you’ll never feel restricted. Best Feature: These have four-way stretch technology, are sweat-wicking, and can come with either a five inch inseam or a seven inch inseam.
Everlane’s Sport Shorts are perhaps the perfect blend of athleisure and exercise clothing I’ve come across in recent memory. The style reminds me of something a tennis player might wear, but the real reason I love them is the comfort level. They don’t have a liner which I love. This means, to me, no wedgies. Beyond that, they have a moisture wicking material that is great for exercise and they even dry quickly if you happen to jump into a pool (I’ve tried it).Best Feature: These shorts are ready for anything: the gym, the pool, even dinner.
