Beyoncé wants her music to speak for itself. According to her, that’s exactly why fans didn’t get any music videos from her two latest album releases, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter. “I thought it was important that during a time where all we see is visuals, that the world can focus on the voice,” Queen Bey told GQ in an interview published Tuesday. “The music needed space to breathe on its own. Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music,” she added. Cowboy Carter, released in March, was a departure in the “Crazy in Love” singer’s discography as it was her first country album. “The years of hard work and detail put into an album that takes over four years! The music is enough,” she told the magazine. She goes on to explain that the visual elements for these projects came in the form of her tour, movie, and the fans themselves.
