Bill Bain is Mitt Romney's oldest mentor, the man who envisioned Bain Capital, the most-attacked company in campaign history. But as millions of dollars have been spent slamming his name, Bain has stayed silent—until now. Speaking exclusively to The Daily Beast, Bain dismisses criticism of the firm. “The unfair attacks are not worth responding to,” he said. He also defended Bain Capital's record, saying “Bain Capital was founded in 1984 to create value," Bain said. "The founding partners took risk in starting this venture, but succeeded in raising their first fund and in investing it well to create value for their investors.”
