In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, former President Bill Clinton copped to having aides search Area 51 as well as papers on Roswell, N.M., “to make sure there was no alien down there.” When Kimmel asked Clinton whether he would have informed the public if he found something, Clinton said, “Yeah.” Clinton also admitted that he thinks aliens may exist, given the vast expanse of the universe. “If we were visited someday, I wouldn’t be surprised,” he said. “I just hope it’s not like Independence Day.” Ending the speculation with a hopeful note, Clinton said that an alien invasion “may be the only way to unite this increasingly divided world of ours… think about all the differences among people of Earth would seem small if we feel threatened by a space invader.”
