Texas authorities are investigating the hanging death of Sandra Bland just as they would a murder case, Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis told a press conference Monday. Bland was taken into custody after a July 10 traffic stop and was found dead in her cell three days later. Her death was labeled a suicide by a medical examiner. The Texas Rangers are doing DNA testing of Bland’s cell and will be attempting to download data from Bland’s phone, the DA said. Dash-cam footage from the arrest will be released Tuesday and the grand jury will hear the case in August.
