Blonde Roma Girl ID'd in Greece

LOST AND FOUND

Mother says she gave her up willingly.

Mystery solved. DNA testing has positively ID’d Maria, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl taken from a Roma camp in central Greece last week, as the daughter of a Bulgarian migrant who says she could not afford to care for the child. The mother, Sasha Ruseva, 35, told reporters, "We gave her, we gifted her, without money.” Investigators began searching for her biological parents last week, after a raid for weapons and drugs led to the discovery of the fair-skinned four-year-old and the arrest on child abduction charges of the Greek Gypsy couple who claimed to be her parents. Media attention of the case led to an international frenzy from hopeful parents of missing children who suspected the Gypsy girl might be theirs.
