Michael Bloomberg’s reign as New York City mayor may be over, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to go back to the quiet life of an average billionaire. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has selected Bloomberg to serve as the U.N.’s special envoy for cities and climate change. In his new role, the media mogul will advise the secretary-general when consulting with city leaders “to raise political will and mobilize action among cities as part of his longer-term strategy to advance efforts on climate change,” U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said Friday during the announcement.
