Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina confirmed that a criminal investigation into a couple who raised $400,000 via GoFundMe for a Philadelphia homeless man is now underway, according to the Burlington County Times. “As of this time, there have been no charges filed. Further updates will be provided as circumstances warrant,” Coffina said. Kate McClure and Mark D’Amico raised the money for Johnny Bobbitt after he used his last $20 to help McClure when she was stuck on the highway. Earlier Thursday, a BMW was seized from the couple while authorities executed a search warrant at the their home. The couple claimed they gave Bobbitt $200,000, but he alleged that they spent most of the money on expensive trips, gambling, shopping, and a BMW. Bobbitt’s attorney said “all of the money” is gone.
