Bob Weinstein, the brother of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and an executive at The Weinstein Company, says he never realized the extent of his brother’s “sick and depraved ways” until several women came forward to accuse him of sexual assault. “I find myself in a waking nightmare. My brother has caused unconscionable suffering,” he was cited saying in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Saturday. Insisting he was only aware of his brother’s penchant for verbal abuse and “philandering with every woman he could meet,” he said, “No F-in way was I aware that that was the type of predator that he was.” “I have a brother that’s indefensible and crazy. I want him to get the justice that he deserves,” he said. As for the fate of The Weinstein Company, which is facing questions about how it could have been oblivious to Weinstein's alleged abuse, Bob Weinstein said there is a “plan to come out on the other side” with the company to be rebranded under a new name—“and it won't be familial, I promise you that.” The board of directors of the company, he said, is also seeking to cut Harvey Weinstein’s ownership interest in the company to ensure he no longer gets profits, he said.
