A body found inside a suitcase in Greenwich, Conn., has been identified as a 24-year-old New York woman who was reported missing last month, police said in a Thursday statement. Valerie Reyes, of New Rochelle, was last seen alive on Jan. 29 at around 9 a.m., Greenwich Police Captain Robert Berry said. “Her family was advised of the positive identification last night,” Berry said. “They are obviously devastated by the loss of Valerie and our heartfelt condolences go out to them.”
Reyes’ body was found Tuesday morning off a highway inside a red suitcase, fully clothed with her hands and feet bound. “The cause of death has not yet been confirmed by the” medical examiner, Berry said, adding that the police are still looking for suspects. “Many pieces of possible physical evidence were collected and results from forensic analysis are pending.”
