Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan has resigned, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Thursday. “On behalf of the men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Border Patrol, I want to thank Mark Morgan for his unwavering dedication to our border security mission, and recognize his life-long career in service to the nation,” said Kevin K. McAleenan, the acting commissioner of CBP. Morgan’s resignation comes as President Donald Trump is ordering the construction of a wall on the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico. Earlier Thursday, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto canceled a meeting with Trump that was scheduled for next Tuesday because of their dispute over the border wall.
