Brad Pitt’s alleged abuse of Angelina Jolie began “well before” the family’s infamous 2016 flight to Los Angeles, her lawyers alleged in a bombshell filing on Thursday. Obtained by the Los Angeles Times, the motion was filed by Jolie’s attorneys in support of her protracted seven-year legal battle with Pitt over their French winery Chateau Miraval. The motion seeks to compel a response from Pitt over how an “implied” deal to buy Jolie out of her share of the winery fell apart, with her lawyers arguing that he backed out after she refused to sign a “more onerous” and “expansive” non-disclosure agreement. The lawyers are seeking Pitt’s communications with federal, county, and local law enforcement regarding the private plane trip. “While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well,” the motion states. “Jolie then immediately left him.” The Maleficent star filed for divorce five days after the flight, and their separation remains unfinalized.
