A judge in Wisconsin has denied a motion to halt the release of Brendan Dassey from prison. Dassey, who was featured in the Netflix documentary series Making a Murderer, was ordered to be freed by 8 p.m. Friday. Dassey’s conviction was overturned in August, reversing a 2007 life sentence for rape and murder. Dassey confessed to the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach under circumstances that legal observers have said was coerced, and later recanted. This week, he was ordered to be released from prison.
