Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as the newest U.S. Supreme Court Justice Saturday evening in a “private ceremony” almost immediately after he was confirmed in a close and bitter vote, the Associated Press reports. The ceremony took place at the court building across the street from the Capitol as roughly 500 protestors chanted outside. “We are stronger than the Brett Kavanaughs of the world, and now we will show Senator Collins and Donald Trump and the rest of these Republicans just how real our movement is,” one speaker said to a cheering crowd in front of the Supreme Court steps. Another woman appeared to climb atop the Supreme Court's “Contemplation of Justice” statue and held up a sign that read, “Believe Survivors.”
