On Wednesday, the 34-year-old Bristol Palin, daughter of the former Alaska Gov. and John McCain’s 2008 running mate Sarah Palin, posted on her Instagram story that she “woke up nine days ago with a weird little sensation in my face,” says Us Weekly. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant looked in the mirror and noticed her lopsided mouth, remarking that it looked “a little weird.” Palin lost all sensation and movement in the entire left side of her face over the next two hours. She went to the doctor, where she was given a CT scan and put on steroids and other medications. Doctors told Palin she probably had a case of Bell’s palsy, a temporary form of facial paralysis in half the face resulting from muscle weakness. Palin says her doctors believed the condition was caused by “stress or lack of sleep.” Palin says she has finally seen “improvement” over the last two days after several days of persistent and worsening symptoms. Palin also suggested others suffering from Bell’s palsy should utilize “Eastern medicine.” She said, “acupuncture... helped speed up the process of recovery tremendously.”
