Brooklyn Nets’ Caris LeVert Suffers Gruesome Injury Mid-Game

Brooklyn Nets guard Caris LeVert had to be stretchered off the court late Monday after suffering a gruesome leg injury in the second quarter of a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. LeVert appeared to land awkwardly after jumping up to block a shot from Timberwolves guard Josh Okogie, with his ankle apparently snapping as his foot hit the ground. LeVert was seen covering his face with his hands in pain as medical staff rushed to his side. He was later hospitalized with what the Nets described only as a “right leg injury.” “I just think it’s a devastating blow for us, for him. That’s all I really want to say about this,” Nets coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters after the game. LeVert, 24, was in the middle of his best NBA season and was reportedly a top contender for the team’s Most Improved Player award. “We didn’t talk even when we came in at halftime. There’s nothing really to be said. You could just feel it, the emotions from everybody. Guys were crying coming in, it was really that horrific just to see,” Nets forward Joe Harris told USA Today.
