Leadership of Burkina Faso has now changed hands twice in less than 24 hours. President Blaise Compaore stepped down after more than 27 years in office, prompting army chief General Honore Traore to claim power. A short time later, Colonel Isaac Zida said he had assumed the powers of head of state and called on the international community to recognize his authority. Compaore, meanwhile, has fled Burkina Faso and arrived in Ivory Coast capital Yamoussoukro.
