Two Buddhist monks who were seriously burned in 2012 are suing Myanmar’s home minister and police chief. U Withoda and U Tikha Nyana were among the more than 100 monks injured when police attempted to disrupt their protests against a Chinese-backed copper mine by using smoke bombs allegedly containing white phosphorous. U Tikha Nyana suffered burns on 60 percent of his body and is encouraging others to join their lawsuit.
