Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers made baseball history today, reportedly agreeing to an 8-year, $248 million contract extension. Including the two years left on the slugger's current contract, Detroit is committing $292 million to Cabrera over the next decade, which would be the MLB’s largest deal to date. The only other Major League player to sign with a team for at least $30 million per season is pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who made his landmark deal with the L.A. Dodgers earlier this year.
