The total number of people killed in the devastating Northern California wildfires has reached 79 after two more sets of human remains were found Monday, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said. However, the staggering list of those unaccounted for has dropped to around 700 people—around 300 fewer than was reported at the start of the week. Many of those list are believed to be safe and may be unaware they’ve been reported missing. The Camp Fire ignited in Northern California on Nov. 8 and has, so far, destroyed nearly 12,000 homes and displaced more than 50,000 residents.
