Wildlife Officials Relocated Bear, Only for It to Make 1,000-Mile Journey Back to Favorite Park

Six months after a “nuisance” black bear who’d been raiding campsites and backpacks in Great Smoky Mountains National Park was relocated to a spot around 50 miles away, the bear made it back to her original favorite park after a circumspect journey of close to 1,000 miles, Fox9 reports. “We’ve seen a few bears make some very long distance moves, but this is by far the longest,” Bill Stiver, a wildlife biologist for Great Smoky Mountains National Park, said of Bear 609.
