Best-selling animal photographer Carli Davidson has now managed to capture cats in the adorable split-second when they’re overcome with the urge to shake off an insatiable ear twinge. The models for her new book, Shake Cats , are all rescues, each of which was adopted in the Portland, Oregon, area. (You may also know Davidson from the dog best-sellers Shake and Shake Puppies .) Davidson photographed her first shaking cat in 2011, while helping out at a local shelter. “Most cats were adopted almost immediately after our shoots and to think that I might have had even the slightest part in that feels amazing,” she says.

For Shake Cat , Davidson photographed close to 100 cats. Her background in animal training must have proved helpful for the process. "Getting the cats to shake was actually more of a grooming process than a waiting game,” she said. “The ear cleanings are what generally caused the shake to happen, I just had to be ready.”
