After a Monday board meeting, CBS announced that it would seek outside counsel to investigate several allegations of sexual misconduct against CEO Leslie Moonves—but would take no action against him for the time being. Last Friday, Moonves became the newest subject of the #MeToo movement when an explosive New Yorker article detailed allegations of sexual misconduct from six women. Moonves has since apologized in a statement to the New Yorker, writing that “I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances. Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely.” He denied, however, that he ever used his power to jeopardize the careers of women who rejected him. CNBC reports that CBS’ board also announced Monday that they planned to reschedule their annual shareholder meeting, which was set to take place August 10.
