NBC chief foreign correspondent Andrea Mitchell revealed on air Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. "I had planned to be hiking in Wyoming last week, but instead discovered that I am now among the 1 in 8 women in this country—incredibly 1 in 8—who have had breast cancer," she said. Mitchell described her cancer, which was discovered during an annual screening, as being in its “earliest stages” and said her prognosis was “terrific.” She has already undergone treatment. Speaking to other women, Mitchell said, “Screening matters. Do it.”
