“I accept your nomination for president of the United States,” Mitt Romney yelled above wild cheers before starting his speech on Thursday night. The GOP’s presidential pick appealed to middle-class Americans disappointed with the current administration, even adding that he had hoped for success for his democratic contender. "I wish the president had succeeded because I want America to succeed. But his promises gave way to disappointment and division,” he said. Romney clearly outlined his priorities, promising thousands of new jobs, energy independence, a military “no nation would ever dare to test,” and a balanced budget. “If I am elected president of these United States, I will work with all my energy and soul to restore ... America,” he said. “Let us begin that future together tonight."
