The Women in the World Foundation will expand its partnership with Vital Voices, a nonprofit born out of the initiatives of then–first lady Hillary Clinton and then-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, that according to its mission, “identifies, trains, and empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the globe.” The two organizations have worked together since 2011, with several members of Vital Voices's 14,000-strong network contributing to the annual Women in the World summit. This news comes days after Tina Brown announced she would be leaving her role as editor in chief of The Daily Beast to start her own company producing live events. “I know firsthand how committed Tina is to making the world a better place for women and girls, and through her media platform no one has exposed the power of women’s leadership around the world quite like she has,” said Vital Voices president Alyse Nelson.
