Columbia University said Thursday it will not remove TV celebrity doctor Dr. Mehmet Oz from his faculty role at the New York school, despite a letter from 10 physicians calling for his dismissal. The Ivy League school responded to the letter, noting that the school is commited to “upholding faculty members’ freedom of expression for statements they make in public discussion.” The doctors’ letter was sent to a Columbia dean this week, arguing Oz shows “an egregious lack of integrity by promoting quack treatments and cures in the interest of personal financial gain.”
