The city of Baltimore will pay Freddie Gray's family $6.4 million and settle their civil lawsuit over his treatment by police prior to his death. The Baltimore Sun previously noted the “payment is larger than the total of the more than 120 other lawsuits brought against the police department for alleged brutality and misconduct since 2011.” The settlement agreement does not acknowledge wrongdoing by police. Six officers will be tried separately for Gray’s death by an injury sustained in police custody.
