Oscar Pistorius said he wouldn’t be able to afford a new trial in documents filed in court Friday. The South African Olympian’s lawyer filed a flurry of motions alleging that a retrial would also open Pistorius up to double jeopardy and that it would be tainted by the publicity of the first trial, in response to prosecutors’ statements that he should have been found guilty of murder rather than the lesser charge of culpable homicide. Prosecutors allege the judge made a mistake while sentencing Pistorius.
