Protests at a Donald Trump event turned violent late Tuesday at the Albuquerque Convention Center, where the presumtive GOP presidential nominee was holding a campaign rally. Demonstrators broke through police barrier and hurled burning “Make America Great Again” T-shirts, bottles, and rocks at officers in riot gear, who responded with pepper spray and smoke grenades. The glass on the arena’s front doors was shattered by protesters. Inside the rally, the candidate was interrupted by protesters holding “Trump Is Fascist” banners, and one woman was dragged out by security. According to local police, several officers were treated for injuries after being hit by rocks.
