Donald Trump on Friday revived the conspiracy theory he previously peddled during the GOP primary—that Ted Cruz’s father Rafael was connected to President John F. Kennedy’s assassin. Speaking at a post-convention rally in Cleveland, Trump said Cruz “never denied” that his father was pictured by The National Enquirer at breakfast with Lee Harvey Oswald three months before he is said to have shot and killed JFK. “I had nothing to do with it,” Trump said of the conspiracy theory gaining national traction. “This was a magazine that, frankly, in many respects, should be very respected.”
