The release of never-before-seen nude photographs of Melania Trump is raising doubts about the former model’s tale of her immigration to the United States. According to a Politico report, Trump appears to have come to the U.S. on a short-term visa, which would not have allowed her to legally work as a model. Additionally, the photos, which were published this week by the New York Post, were taken in 1995. Trump said she came to the U.S. in 1996. “Melania followed all applicable laws and is now a proud citizen of the United States,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said. It was previously reported that Trump’s Republican National Committee biography was also incorrect becuase it stated that she had graduated from college in Slovenia.
In a statement posted on Twitter on Thursday morning, Trump responded to the controversy by calling Politico’s reporting inaccurate, but did not address the specific instances of potential misinformation. “I have at all times been in full compliance with the immigration laws of this country. Period,” she said. “Any allegation to the contrary is simply untrue.”
