Despite flat-out denials from Republican National Committee officials Reince Priebus and Sean Spicer, a new report from The Smoking Gun suggests the RNC’s email was, in fact, hacked. According to the transparency site, an October 13 e-mail sent to info@gop.com is among the correspondence posted to DC Leaks—the site that infamously leaked the emails of top Democratic officials prior to the election. Upon further investigation, The Smoking Gun noted that the Republicans whose emails appeared on DC Leaks all used Smartech, an email and web-hosting firm that, according to Tom Del Beccaro, ex-chairman of the California Republican Party, had admitted to being hacked. The GOP’s main website was long hosted by Smartech until 2014, while its email services have still been provided by the company—effectively suggesting the high possibility that the RNC was hacked by Russians as well, despite the claims of Priebus and Spicer.
