The United Airlines passenger who was dragged off of a flight at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Sunday night has reportedly been identified as David Dao, a 69-year-old Vietnamese-American physician and a father of five. Dao was physically removed from his seat and dragged down the aisle of the plane before it departed from Chicago en route to Louisville, due to what the airline said was an overbooked flight. United has faced fierce backlash over the incident, which was caught on camera by passengers. Dao was shown afterward with a bloodied face, muttering “just kill me.” United CEO Oscar Munoz said Dao was being “disruptive and belligerent,” despite the video suggesting overreaction by responding officials.
