Secretary of State Rex Tillerson signed an international declaration acknowledging the threats posed by climate change in the Arctic region. The move comes as the Trump administration is deciding whether to pull out of the global Paris climate accord, which was agreed to during the Obama presidency. The document signed by Tillerson this week is the Fairbanks Declaration, which includes all countries and indigenous groups which border the Arctic Circle. “We’re not going to rush to make a decision. We’re going to work to make the right decision for the United States,” Tillerson said of the Paris accord.
