Chelsea Manning, the former Army private convicted of leaking classified documents, attempted suicide in October for a second time. She told a member of her private volunteer support network that she attempted to take her life on Oct. 4, and reportedly asked that the information be sent to The New York Times. An ACLU lawyer representing Manning confirmed that a second suicide attempt did take place. Manning has been in solitary confinement as punishment for her first suicide attempt in July. The Times reported that Manning will soon appear at a disciplinary hearing, where she could be further penalized.
